The Forgotten
There were a few aircraft that i can manage to identify which was the Hawk, The F-56 sabre, De Havilan Canada DHC-4A Caribou, and the smth Scottish smth.. couldn't remember.. it was a really old bird. I manage to get into the cockpit of the DHC-4 and for some reason i sorta felt sad for this bird. The DHC-4A isn't a fighter aircraft but they're the kinda aircraft used to carry people and supplies. As i sat on the first officer seat, i look at her switches and instruments and gauges. The Altimeter were all broken, the fuel gauge was all screwed up and the wires at the circuit breaker are all messed up. I turn my head a little to the left and i saw smth that every aircraft wouldn't want to go through.. and this image was left hanging in my mind till now~!
I saw two switches Written "Fuel Pump" and "Ignition".. they were both in the position written "OFF". I can imagine this aircraft was switched off and it's engine killed for the last time.. knowing that the flight to the Sg.Besi airport was the last flight ever.. What disturbs me the most is seeing these birds who once went and survive countless battles.. survive dogfights and shooting down enemy airfcraft to save us Malaysian civilians.. serve our country Malaysia.....
and later left to rott under the sun and rain! Leaving them to rust and die...

Gunung Tahan! Ultimate killer?
(Left to Right: Me, Ramash, Eu Gin, Amal, Glenn)
The night before the climb, we checked our bags and muh bag was about 15kgs. It was too heavy for me to climb with. And i only trained with 10kgs of weight. This was 5kgs more! The rest of the boys face this same problem as well.. So, we gotta have to remove every unnecessary weight from out bags. Took out unwanted clothes, batteries, shoes, belt, water bottle holder and so on. My final bag weight was 12kgs. Well, i though extra 2kgs wouldn't be a problem.. but... read on.. =) and yeah.. My boots tear apart just before the climb!!!! SHIT!!! I substitute it with some old skool Cap Gajah kinda shoe.. hahah!
We gathered at the park ranger's office at about 8.30 in the morning on the 20th april, monday. Went and lapor diri and had our bags checked. We gotta have to declare how many plastic bags, clothes, gloves, shoes, etc that we are carrying with us and yes, they'll count every rubbish that you have with you when you decent back down, they must match the number of stuffs that you declare before you climb or else, you'll be fined 10,000 bucks. No joke man!
After 5 km of climbing, my shoulders feels like it's breaking apart. But i know that my body is still capable of more punishment. Drinking water was another issue. The only source of water we have is from the river. Anak sungai something, i forgot the name. It's not much of a crystal clear kinda water since we're still at the bottom but it'll do the job.
(The first river we come through)
(Eu Gin has nothing to complain about)
Along the way, were bitten by countless leaches and insects! Pffftt! and finallt At 3.30pm, we've finally reach our campsite and the first check point. 6 hours to cover 13km. Set our tent up and start up the camp fire to prepare dinner.
(Thumbs up! We've reach our campsite, sorry about the shirtles pic)
(And errmm.. boys will be boys =P)
And the shit part starts to unfold. about 5.30pm, when the water just boiled and we're about to cook dinner, it starts raining! At first it was drizzling but it gets heavier later on. Shait! We gotta go get shelter in our tent, leaving our clothes and campfire being soaked in rain water. That rain last for about and hour or so. And here's the kicker, we've been surrounded by bees! Apparently they're attracted to sweat and salt. This is one weird bees of you ask me. Aren't they suppose to be attracted to flowers and all? Must be a different species. And for some reason, they're attracted to my tent! And one more thing.. My tent Ain't waterproof!!!!
(Yeah man~! bees surrounding my tent! This is just a few.. more came later!)
At about 8ish.. still raining though, the bees went back to its HQ. haha! i put on my poncho and came out from the tent. Brought everything out from the tent and turn the tent upside down. Get all the water outta the tent and try to dry it up in the cold drizling night. Preparing for a good night sleep. And about 9.30pm. I crashed.. hoping that i'll have a fresh start the next morning.. We've got about 19km to cover the next day. At about 10.30 pm, i was awakened by the sound of a really really really heavy rain! And yeah, the tent starts to fill up with water..AGAIN!! At that point i seriously couldn't care less about being wet and all i wanted is to sleep.. i wrapped myself with my poncho and continue on crashing. It wasn't a comfortable sleep though. Got up at 3am and 5am. Damnit! I got up at 6am hopinh to have some light breakfast and then leave the campsite before the bees come back. They were earlier then i expected! The first bee came at around 6.30 am.. then the whole swarm.
They start surrounding my tent again, this time.. they really surround every single piece of my tent! Me and Eu gin was trying to bring the tent down but there were to many of them. Eu gin got stung on the finger and he immediately ran to one corner to check on it. Leaving me alone to close the tent, and i manage.. but the bees wouldn't give up! So i took the tent and ran to the nearby river, soak the tent and myself in the river till the bees went away.I later come to understand that Cass soak her tent (the tent that i borow from) in sea water in PD before handing it to me. So that's why they love my tent so much! I pack the wet tent up and get everything of my belongings and went across the river. Had to make about three trips across to get all my stuff.. Pack my bags up and prepare everything up.. and i'm ready for the next 19km. So as the boys. Because of carrying wet stuff with me, i have about an extra 2kg in my bag, stressing up my swollen shoulder. The determination to reach the peak was there. So i'm still going on!
Glenn didn't look too good.. both physically and mentally. The night before he was complaining about how unprepared he was and that he couldn't continue the journey. I seriouly think he is physically capable of going on but he is mentally disturbed. After all that raining and lack of food and bees and all, he really was mentally disturbed. After about 3 or 4km of climbing on tuesday, Glenn finally gives up. And yes.. we're all fired up to reach the peak but because of one person, the team have to decent back! Sigh! The disappointment man. I know that it is physically tough but i know that i'm capable of reaching the peak. So as amal, ramash and eu gin. But yeah.. As a team.. we had to decent.. No choice, but for Glenn's safety.. cause as we go higher and higher, the challenges is gonna be tougher, but since he's complaining at the16KM mark, we just hadta abort. He'll just die up there.. who knows..
(i was the first victim of leach attack)
(Eu gin's leg. got bitten by smth that we don't know)
(Eu gin's feet)
(Really really really disappointed with the decission to abort the climb)
Here's some advice for people who are planning to clime gunung tahan,
1. Be prepared for the leaches. Bring vinegar or salt to stop them from sucking your blood.
2. Bring proper equipment and yeah, you really gotta have to invest.
3.Waterproof Tent is a must!
4.Everything must be waterproof!
5.Distribute the food base on your personal usage. Bring what you are going to consume. Ali bring maggi and Abu bring energy bar kinda seperation is a no no!
6.Bring food that has lodsa energy. Ready to eat food is always the best choice, but also bring smth heavy for your stomach.
7.Bring your own stuff, personal tent, personal knife, personal bowl, etc. Cause sharing isn't so caring in gunung tahan.
8. Train and always prepare for the worst. Make sure you're physically fit! that's a must!!
After all that disappointment, i am going to climb gunung tahan again! and i'm gonna reach the peak! =D But the biggest question is.. When? Wanna Tag Along?

DO or DIE
Right now, as far as i'm concern, i'm on the right path of achieving my ambition.. Problem is.. I really need those grades! This final three months separate between one man's success or failure.. But whatever it is, i will do whatever it takes to get there even if it means i have to strive all night.. i will do it! (Except risking the life of my love ones..) I was talking with Juen and Eu Gin the other day.. they're in the same situation like me.. I don't know why but people with passion always seems to be an average student and clueless shit people who don't know what to do in life end up being the smart asses ones.. ah who cares.. it has always been like that.. they'll score in exams and kill them selves when they start working.. NERD!! Passion-less piece of shit! Well we agreed really work our asses off.. To prove those nerds wrong! hahah..
Just like every other young man out there, i have a wild dream too.. to push Malaysian Aviation to the next level.. Why? Easy, PASSION! It drives you to do anything.. Sorry lah i'm not the kind of people where you find working in the government's office.. Clueless about what their life is all about and as far as they concern, they're just waiting for their RM1,500 salary to be out.. Eww.. they disgust me!!! BLUEK~! Well to me, it's about achievements! Making History and Pride! Not, money, title and fame.. But if you're wondering what kind of 'pushing Malaysian aviation to the next level', i'm sorry to say that i have to keep that a secret.. but i know that it'll be a success IF i put my all into it.. Even if i fail, atleast i know i tried..
(Jermaine and Mike)Of course.. With Yee Won, Jermaine, Mike, Eu Gin and Omar teaming up with me and agreeing to my idea.. i think it'll be possible for us to reach the stars that we've always wanted to.. Dreams are made to be reached but whether or not we get there, that all depends on our examinations.. Every moment, Every hour, Every minute and every second counts.......
